We climbed until we found
an open window
there was no time left
for any feelings
the water crashed around
our lonely building
the thunder flowed
and we craned our necks
searching
the wretched people have reclaimed us
what do you give to your god?
the blood is dripping from my fingers
where is it coming from?
I tossed and turned all night
or was it day light
inside our tomb, no way to tell
we burned the doors, we burned the paper
we waited so long under the lightning siege
my teeth and blood black pieces on the pillow
the waste bin overflowed, I am dying
where is it coming from?
The last thing I see could be
through this tiny window
schizophrenic skies are blinding
tapping a code for all to see
Sunlight wakes me, I have
been abandoned
I’ve been abandoned
Or I have died and
gone to heaven
I’ve gone to heaven
It’s so quiet
I can’t believe it
can’t believe it, can’t believe it
All the buildings
are gone as far as
my eye can see
The last good memory was of a Sunday
the neighborhood kids biked down the street
the days were all sunny then
like the pulling tide before the tidal wave
before the devil pointed his tail at me
